VICUÑITA RESEARCH CENTER

Science, Conservation and Living Heritage in the High Andes

The Vicuñita Research Center was created as a living commitment to the ecosystems that give origin to our fibers. It is not an isolated initiative — it is the foundation that sustains our garments, our conservation mission, and our family legacy.

Andean Fiber Zoological Area

Protecting the guardians of the High Andes

This area is dedicated to the conservation, study, and responsible management of Andean camelids — alpacas, llamas, and vicuñas — whose fibers represent one of the most noble natural materials in the world.

We promote:

  • Ethical fiber sourcing

  • Ecosystem-based management

  • Research on fiber quality and biodiversity

  • Education on camelid preservation

We believe fiber begins with life. Protecting the animal means protecting the landscape, the community, and the future of Andean culture.

Kantu Tika – Munaypampa Botanical Garden

Regenerating altitude ecosystems

Kantu Tika, located in Munaypampa, is our botanical conservation space dedicated to native High Andean flora. This garden preserves species that sustain biodiversity, soil regeneration, and cultural identity.

Here we:

  • Protect native medicinal and endemic plants

  • Develop ecological restoration initiatives

  • Conduct environmental education programs

  • Support scientific and academic collaboration

This garden is more than conservation — it is regeneration in action.

Our work is structured around three integrated areas:

Preserving ancestral knowledge

Textile art in the Andes is not only craft; it is a millenary system of knowledge.

Through our social and cultural textile area, we:

  • Strengthen traditional weaving techniques

  • Support local artisans and communities

  • Promote cultural continuity

  • Integrate research with design innovation

Each garment reflects not only fiber, but memory, identity, and collective heritage.

Social and Cultural Textile Area

The Vicuñita Research Center exists from the conviction that true luxury carries responsibility. Our garments are not detached from the land; they rise from it, shaped by altitude, life, and time. To support La Vicuñita is to stand with the conservation of High Andean ecosystems, the protection of camelids, the regeneration of native flora, the continuity of ancestral culture, and the advancement of scientific knowledge. This is not corporate responsibility — it is a structural commitment woven into every fiber we create.
